Any franchisee's out there?

I've been out of work almost 6-months, and finding it hard to get an interview. I have a feeling my age and previous salary is holding me back. I'm looking at several franchise opportunities and wondered if anyone on here has bought a franchise, what the franchise is, and would you do it again if you could turn back time?

I've ruled out anything that requires a retail store-front (I don't want to lay out that big an investment). I'm looking for either a home-based, or mobile type business.

14TC #35, White Tundra Club #910,000.1, TXTC #133, Tundra with a cap #132, Tundra Camper's Club #9, VLEDS blue footwell LED's, and interior lights upgraded to blue LED's, Aluminum Filter Cap, G-Tek doorsill protectors, NFab light bar, 2 20" LED bars, Amber Rigid D2's in place of OEM fogs. Next project in line = dip the chrome

Why not pick an industry or service that you feel is needed and demanded in your local region and start your own company. The investment will be less than a franchise and you wont have to pay them in perpetuity.

there are several Pro's to going with a franchise, which if you can over come them then starting your own company might be the right avenue for you.
they offer your marketing and training support, and the biggest is that its a nationally recognized brand so consumers feel safer doing business with you..

even with those advantages from a franchise, if i had to do it, i'd buy a van and tool it up and do my own business.

there's a local guy here who does mobile re-keying service. its his own company, and i talked to him about it because ive also seen a few franchised vans running around. he makes a decent living off of it, 4-6k a month... not too shabby.

personally i'll pick the local guy just because i like supporting local small businesses.

I want to go into business for myself but not by myself. I like the support a franchise offers (training, website, marketing, etc etc.)

I'm working with someone that places people in franchises based on skills, investment, etc. So, printing, restoration services, property management, new homeowner small business marketing, Senior Services, just to name a few.

Usually someone has a passion for a certain field or see an untapped niche before starting a business. It seems you just want a job. Maybe find someone with a business that is thinking about retiring. work for them, learn the trade and then take over if it works for you.

I have wondered from time to time about the dustless blasting franchise since there is plenty of graffiti in the area to keep going between automotive jobs... maybe.
It may be crap, i dunno.

Not sure what I said that indicated I just want a "job".

Neighbor of mine says this is a fairly lucrative business.

Appreciate the comments so far, still looking for someone that is actually in a franchise to chime in.

All the franchisees are too busy writing payment checks to their franchisor!

Maybe the OP could open a cloth selling franchise. He could rent a 25000 sq foot building situated between a pawn broker and a strip club.
