The XD is thinner than most because the mags arent thick polymer, try it out they are very ergonomically designed.

Black talons are not illegal in CA. In fact, they are not illegal anywhere. ONLY tracers and incendiary rounds are banned in CA (anything that can start a brush fire, basically).

You can buy them now as the "Law enforcement only' Winchester SXT rounds- there is no civilian restriction onowning them, the LEO only thing is just company policy, so you will pay more for them.

Sometimes you can find them at the Glendale gun show, or the Costa Mesa gun show, or buy them online on auction at GunBroker.com Online Gun Auction.

For a first time shooter, pick up an S&W 686+ 7 shot revolver- get the 4" barrel. It's easy to shoot, durable, and light recoiling with .38's. AND you won't get bored of it as you gain experience.

If you buy the wolff spring kit and live in SoCal, I'd be happy to put it in for you free

As for autos, can't go wrong with a Glock or XD. Small hands? Go for the Glock 19/23. Don't buy the ultra-compacts unless you plan on carrying it on your person.

If you live near Burbank CA, pay for my range time and I can bring out pistols for you to try, or give you some quick instruction. For real tactical instruction, you'll have to go to Front Sight or some of the other places that do it- indoor range rules forbid rapid fire here.

-Dave

PS- an 'assault weapon' by CA definition is not automatic. You couldn't buy autos here for many decades. You could buy AWs until 2000.
If you want to read up on our convoluted laws, check out Calguns.net
It's possible to buy cool and evil stuff, but you have to 'neuter' it.

A motion detector would be nice though.

linky

haha. I'd probably try to hide the PC as good as possible. Maybe even shove it in the attic. That or just have the files saved on a remote hard drive that's somewhere other than on the PC with the software.
