Calico Cleanup 2008

There isn't an events section, so if any of you SoCal members are into offroading and want to keep our trails clean. Here is an event that I am a member of the organizing committee.
So right now we are in the beginning stages of organizing the 2nd Annual Calico Cleanup event. Last years event was a hugh success, we had (5) 50' containers and filled 4 to the top and the 5th one half way, removed several abandoned cars from the trails and had a great time.
We would like to make this one even bigger & better, so come on out for a good cause.

A good cause Ron... Thanks for doing that! If I still lived in Cali I'd be there.

I do participate in events like that to keep our local mountains and lakes clean here in Utah.

Looks like fun, i have a lowly 4x2 Tundra, regret not getting the 4x4. But I still might be able to make this, as long as i dont get stuck up there, lol

You won't get stuck up there, there are plenty of areas a 2wd can go. If you do get stuck, there will be plenty of good people up there to help you get out.

i was clowning on the stuck part, lol But ya I will gather up some buddies and plan to be out there. The only thing that will prevent this is if our Drift Season openner is that weekend

I'm an active organizer for the same type of thing here in Texas...we do wetlands, lakes, parks, pretty much anything I can get people involved with.

If anyone from this area is interested in this, please let me know. We do events statewide with a number of different sponsors...always welcome a new face.

Just out of curiosity, do you have to have an environmental assesment done on that area before you go out?

Good cause, Ron. Too bad there were not more people out there like you.

No, One of the guys from my TLCA club contacted the BLM and other local agencies in the area about our club wanting to organize a cleanup. They were really supportive and were more than willing to help.
The area was really getting bad. The year before, some of us went up for a run and ended up hauling out everything from computers dumped in some of the mine entrances, to pool heaters while we were wheeling the trails.
We just got tried of having to look at junk & trash on the trail (as well as other clubs & groups) & wanted to do something about it.
