well I guess I will delete my location on my sig and hide my proxiy and surf the web incognito. Some people live in a world of fear. Becarefull there are internet boogie men everywhere..
Might want to fix that to read "too scared to say"; don't make the internet boogie men come looking for you (you mean these guys right?)
JC, you want your poster back?

The helicopters circle my house constantly, no reason for me to try and hide
Funny, there was a police helicopter circling my house last night. Luckily, it was shining the light down a block away, but it started to freak us out a little. I got a gun out just in case some renegade tried to come in through our back door. I told my wife we'd be in trouble if the cops came in by mistake.
I also don't worry about posting my plate online fwiw.

I got a couple guns out, my .45 and 12gauge, and gave my wife the other 12gauge and told her to wait in the bathroom and if anyone opens the door without identifying themselves to pump out a couple shellsjust in case some renegade tried to come in through our back door. I told my wife we'd be in trouble if the cops came in by mistake.

Fixed it for you

Someone with access to the right databases, or who knows someone with it, can take a plate number and find out among other things where you live, what your phone number is, who lives with you, what their personal information is, where you have lived in the past, and basic credit info just to name a few things off the top of my head.
Hell someone who has all that stuff and is good with computers could figure it out just from IP addresses and crap even if you don't post plate numbers. But why give them info that will just make it easier. People can give personal info in PMs to other members that they trust and know, but there is no sense in leaving it out there for anybody who signs up for a free site membership to see. It just gives more tools to a wack job who decides he doesn't like what you have to say and wants to mess with you personally. That DOES happen.
I'm not arguing your points but lets think about this for a second. Anyone driving a really nice BMW or Porsche would be an easy target for someone who wanted to take down their plate number at the mall and find out where there (more than likely) really nice house is. I'm not so sure that I believe it's as easy as you make it sound.
