You saying I need to pay someone to fix it? Or send this shit back and let remington fix it? I ain't payin no one anything to fix a fuked up gun from the factory!
Well first thing is to try it with a few kinds of ammo. But overall I would say the manufacturer did a poor job of manufacturing. Just try some other brands first; Speer, Federal etc... Finally if Rem wants to give you a hard time about it even if its charging lots of shipping you can easily polish a feed ramp with your dremel without damaging the gun just dont mess with the chamber.

Thanks. That's exactly what the guy at EGR told me, to try polishing the feed ramp with my dremel. I'll do that tonight and see how it acts afterwards. Then, I'll try it out at the range this weekend and see what happens.

I agree. Looking at your pics the ramp is most if not all of your problem. Polish the shit out of it it until there are no tooling marks left and it shines like a mirror. Then it should eat anything you throw at it.
I just got off the phone with Executive Gun Runners. The guy explained to me how finicky 1911's are, and that some of them are very specific on which ammo they will take. Even though the Remington Golden Saber JHP's are on the list of ammo this thing will take, he recommended putting a lot of rounds through it first (FMJ ball, which seem to be chambering/cycling properly). I'll try to put a couple hundred rounds through it this weekend, then try to see if it will take the JHP. He also recommended polishing the feed ramp some, that maybe there is a bur or something that is hanging the JHP up. I'll try that too. He said if it is still acting up, to call Remington and they will square it away for me. I really like the gun, how it feels and all...just hope that once I loosen it up some, I'll fall in love with it
Side note, wife saw her new 9mm today and loved it. She wants to go to the range right now. Then she found the .45. She texted me "you got a GD .45? holy shit!"
Plenty of guys I know have had issues running JHP through a 1911. Feed ramps tend not to like it. I've got 2 Kimbers and every now and then I'll catch a jam with a JHP.
This is why for personal carry I use the Federal 165gr Guard Dog ammo. They just recently brought it back, originally ran it back in 2006-2007 and I had a stockpile from back then. It's a FMJ but underneath the cap is a silicon dimple that expands like a SOB when it hits. Not to mention that 165gr .45ACP round comes out zinging and when it comes to my guns - I always choose speed.

Do not mention his name here. He spits on us and talks crap and you're directing people to him from our site? I don't think so. I know you're neutral and that's fine, but please do not mention him here.

I just received 250 fmj magetch ammo from bulkammo.com I hope getting ammo in the future is not a problem. I plan on taking my .45 acp carbine to the range and enjoy it.

Ok, 1911 update. After shooting both xd's, and the 1911, the 1911 is now my favorite gun ever. I put a little steel wool to the ramp, cleaned it up some. Took it to the range and did about 200rds through it, 50 of those being JHP. No problems whatsoever. Wife put a few mags through it at a target 15' away....not bad.
Fired the taurus 9mm again too. After firing the xd 9 and .40, I find it boring.

I recently got a Kimber and it specifically said to go through at least 400 rounds of FMJ's before feeding it JHP's, as they will not feed properly during that break-in period. Perhaps it'll work the same for your Remington?

The good thing about the 1911 .45 ACP is anyone of those hits would have put him down and with the cost of ammunition, she could put it in the cocked and locked position and finish him off with the butt of the gun if he still had any life in him.
That throat shot would have been extremely violent. Talk about bleeding out!

How you like that Tesas? I was thinkin about gettin one. For $400, what could possibly go wrong? After shooting my new .45, I really want another one, just not sure if I want it in a compact glock or xd, regular size glock or xd, or just get another 1911....
