I honestly and truly hope you guys won't have to deal with the gun grabbers and the bs that goes along with it as we have had to in our country. It truly sucks.
I hope it all settles down for you and goes back to normal.
John.

Hi-Point is cheap because they're fairly low quality. Used to own a 9mm made by them. It came with a misplaced magazine release spring that cause it to try to release every time I pulled the trigger. After I fixed that it worked really well as long as I only used rounded point ammo in it. It really really didn't like hollowpoints and would jam with them regularly.
That said I've heard they've improved quality since I had mine (got it for a 20th birthday present and I'm 26 now so...).
Same thing happened with my Aimpoint. Said it was in stock when I ordered it and got a backorder notice 5 days AFTER placing the order. Not a big deal, but I paid extra for 2 day shipping. I reordered it from Midway and should have it in the next day or so.

Going to check out a Hi Point .40 Carbine this evening, any problems with these I should look out for?
A buddy bought a Hi Point .45 pistol a long time ago. Cheap price and thought he would try it out. What a piece of junk. Shooting at a target 10 feet away and the bullets were flying like it was musket balls through a smooth bore barrel. Couldn't hit anything you were aiming at unless you got lucky.

Boyd's Stock for the 10/22. Probably will be looking at fluted bull barrels in the near future. Fit and finish for these stocks were top notch.
Before
After
Staring at that stock ought to freeze any target till you squeeze off your shot.
What material makes it so purdy?

It's known as a laminated stock. Thin sheets of wood are dyed different colors and then filled with epoxy and glued together under high heat and pressure. Then they are shaped into gun stocks.
