It wil force you to become a better marksman. Capacity is lower.

Just picked one up a couple months ago but haven't made it to the range yet....I really want a kimber but it isn't in the budget yet.

For the money, I have heard good things about the Taurus 1911. It's no Kimber, Wilson Combat or Ed Brown, but it's nowhere near as expensive either.

I went the really cheap route for my 1911 fix and picked up an RIA at a local gun show. It is a really low end brand, but it shoots straight enough for me. I will admit, out of the box, it would not fire a single round. I had to send it in for warranty repair without ever firing a single shot. However, when it came back, it shot pretty damn well. Just my $.02

You get what you pay for.

I've taken mine Taurus 1911 out to the range and put only about 100 rounds through it so far. I enjoy shooting it. I think for the money you can't beat it. I feel that if i enjoy this 1911, i will eventually upgrade to the kimber ranks.

They had some problems with the 1911 R1. Don't really remember what they were but someone warned me away from it and told me what was wrong with it.

I've head nothing but good about the Taurus PT1911 and its options for the price. I would also consider a basic GI Springfield Armory 1911. They're supposed to be the best bones to build from if you ever get the mod bug for your 1911.

My next one will be a Sig TacOps 1911. I have a cheapo custom 1911 built on an Essex frame that I used to love until I handled a TacOps too much. Now I don't even pick my 1911 up. I lost the love for it and bumped the Walther PPS to my EDC instead.

My once loved custom Essex 1911 ImageUploadedByAutoguide1357174449.372933.jpg
I don't believe in selling guns so I guess I'll have to send it to a good pistol smith and see if it can earn some love back.
