And Yet Another New Owner
Finally bit the bullet and picked up an '08 Crew Max Limited with TRD package and tow mirrors. Color is Desert Sand with the light interior. We really wanted white with red rock but none could be found with the towing mirrors so we took our 2nd choice.
Actually the Tundra was 3rd on our list of trucks but it was the only one that fit all our needs. The toughest was the towing. Our first choice was a GMC Sierra Denali......fabulous truck with better appointments and drive train then the Tundra but only available with a 3.43 gear ratio which held the tow rating to 8400. The second choice was a 2009 Dodge Ram (when they come out). Here again a slightly better drive train then the Tundra (especially the 4WD) better appointments, and better storage, but the tow rating is still at 8600 lbs in the crew cab laramie. Our primary use will be to drag our TT all over, and I think the Tundra will do a fine job. I'll miss a few items like a TPM that actually reads the tire pressures, power folding and retracting tow mirrors, memeory seats, and etc, but in the long run they're not that important. The biggest mystery is why Toyota doesn't have a 4WD system on a par with the others. No locking differentials is a bit bizzare. |

welcome to the forum -- I thought the limited came with memory seats and also power fold in mirrors? I have an SR5 and would have liked to have those options, but don't miss them at all. I just completed my maiden voyage with a toy hauler. It was a test tow, and to make sure I liked the toy hauler that my neighbor is selling. I highly recommend installing air bags. I installed the air lift 5000 and on-board compressor. The prodigy brake controller worked very well also. The toy hauler was a 23ft'er about 8000lbs. I had the bed of the truck pretty well loaded also. Averaged about 8 mpg, but was pulling some major hills.

With the light payload of the Tundra, I can see why air bags may be a benifit but I'll hold off until I get the new TT and see what the tonque weight looks like. I also use the Prodigy. Where did you mount yours? |
