New from Dubai
Hi guys, probably a bit far afield but am currently looking at getting myself a Tundra out here in Dubai. Was wondering if there was anyone on here from Dubai who may be able to give me some advice on how/where I could get the car serviced in Dubai?
The importers here are a bit vague, would really like to get a Tundra as it seems a much better drive than the Sierra/Silverado's which are official imports in the middle east. Thanks in advance for any info! |

Thanks, there's a whole bunch of cars in dealers (mainly single cab and a few double cabs) and a few on the road so am sure it isn't a problem. Saw a black decent spec double cab/crew max today which they're asking AED210,000 for which is about US$60,000 (or there abouts) - which seems a bit expensive!! Although that's the price of not driving a H2 SUT or Sierra which everyone else has....

Welcome Dowks to a wonderful site. Wish you the best. At $60,000 that would be fair for it to be imported. I've been to Dubai while I was in the Navy. Nice sites there. I bet gas prices aren't that bad either.

That's why I asked. I knew it would be cheap there. When we were there it was the 1st time a Nuclear Aircraft Carrier fully loaded down pulled into a port pierside. So that in itself was awesome. Not to mention alot easier getting off/on the ship.

Gas is even cheaper in Saudi.
Have also been looking at the Sierra/Silverado and F150. From what I can tell the Tundra is a much better overall package (sort of had to say that given the forum I'm posting on!). All those three have local warranty and service and are about 15-20% cheaper. Here's the key, is the Tundra worth the extra expenditure, potential hassle? I love Toyota, and no offense but there is a difference to build quality in my humble opinion... |

Understand Dowks. I can give you only what I got and what happened to me so far. I have 34,000 miles on mine. I bought it 7/14/07. Just about a year ago. I do alot of highway miles. To work is 28 miles but 25 is interstate and I vary alot in driving. In the morning 60mph, evening 80 mph. I had the truck in the shop 3x. At 15,000 my pass mirror wouldn't autoclose everytime. It took 45 minutes to replace. At 25,000 miles center console wouldn't stay closed so I asked for an adjustment and the service advisor said no we will replace the whole cover. Took less than 10 minutes and had to wait for the paperwork to get done. At 31,000 miles I had 2 lug nuts break off on my Driver's rear. They replaced the bolts and replaced the whole Toyota lock set I had because one of the lugs that broke had the lock on it. That was an $80 set. I do my oil changes at 5,000 miles interval along with rotation of tires. I use synthetic oil also and I use the dealership to do all maintenance. This was why they replaced the lock set. Both my Toyota's get serviced at the dealership. So they know me. Had no issue yet with the 07 Prius which we bought the same day. Imagine that gas guzzler and gas pincher. That's my experience with Toyota. I haven't owned a Toyota since 76 when I had a 74 Corona SR5. That got 25+mpg back then.
