Possible new Tundra Owner: Need advise

Hi people. I have been looking at replacing my 1997 GMC Sierra for a while now, and am starting to seriously look at the Tundra. I took a double cab TRD for a test drive this past weekend, and fell in love!!
I was hoping for some feedback from you guys on the good, the bad and the ugly on this truck.
Also, from what I see, here in Canada, our prices are several thousand dollars more that the U.S.. They want about $41,000 for this truck here. Can anyone tell me what that truck sells for in the U.S.?
Thanks in advance.
Dale.

Thumbs up

Some of the bad that has been reported: some bed bounce (in a few areas), some people have had issues with the paint. The truck is not perfect.

The good: ride quality, power, looks.....I would never change my tundra for any vehicle. I do believe in Toyota's reliability.

dale you won't regret getting this truck.

nissantitan: you had a bad experience but it does not mean we all did. You are one of the few. You seem to appear in every topic with all your BS comments. Get the fuck out of here dude. Your experience was unfortunate and many people, including me took yuor comments seriously at first, but considering all your previous posts you are just a joke man.

Dale, i live in louisiana and im sure that the prices are different depending on where you are in the country but a doublecab trd is going for around 33-34k. I was between that and a TSS and i ended up with the TSS. Just liked the package better. As for problems... well my problems have all been cosmetic. A/C vent that wouldnt stay set, the clock inside had to be replaced.. just minor stuff. However i do find that the paint scratches easily, i have some chips in mine. The good, of course its a great looking truck, power that is unmatched, and its just a great driving truck. Also, this is the only truck you dont have to get the full size four door and the back seats are still comfortable. I find its plenty of room for an adult! Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies, guys. I keep coming on this site, and looking through the posts, looking at the pics of the beautiful trucks you guys have. This site is great, but it may end up costing me alot of money, as it makes me want a new truck more and more!!

Just curious, with the Canadian Dollar worth more than the US Dollar, wouldn't the price be coming down, just based on the exchange rate?

Also, are you able to purchase a vehicle in the US; or are there import taxes that make this prohibitive?

You hit the nail on the head. There are alot of Canadians that are very pissed off that we are paying so much more that the U.S., even though our dollar is at about par.
There are more and more people going to the U.S. to make their purchase, but there is a lot of red tape to deal with. I just wish that the prices were similar. The manufacturers has to do something to stop this bull$hit.

Sorry to hear that. You're right about the price. It should be closer.

I bought a white DC TRD leather with the JBL stereo and paid $29,930. The sticker price was just over 35K. I had gotten some internet price quotes from dealers in Houston TX. and I took that to my local dealer and told them that they had to get the price below 30K for me to buy from them and I showed them the price quotes from Houston dealers. I told them that I did not mind driving 2 hours to save a couple thousand dollars. They came through and I bought it. There was no haggling, I gave them a number and they got me there. The sale and paper work took about an hour and fifteen minutes. I was pleased. If you buy a new Tundra you really should get the 5.7. This engine and 6 speed transmission combo gets better gas mileage than the 4.7 plus the power is unbelievable. Good luck and welcome, I new here myself.
