First Time Tundra/RAV4

I bought a New 2008 Toyota Tundra DC 4x4 5.7 Super White with Graphite Fabric on 4/4/08. At the present time I have 325mi on it. It has factory TRD dual exhaust and brushed stainless step boards. So far I really like it. This truck is replacing my 2002 Ford F350 7.3 Power Stroke diesel that I didn't need anymore.

I have only owned 2 Toyota's before this 2008 Tundra truck, a 1978 fj40 Landcruiser and a 1981 Toyota Supra. Both were good vehicles.

On Mar 21, 2008 I also bought my wife a New 2008 Toyota Rav4 Limited 4WD V6 Pearl White with Ash Leather. This SUV replaces a 2000 Honda Accord EXL V6 coupe.

So I guess you could say we are a 2 Toyota family. I bought both vehicles for the same reason, reliability, quality and value after much research on the net. The 269HP V6 in the RAV4 is Awesome as is the 381HP V8 in the Tundra.

Looking forward to learning all that I can from the good info posted on this site from all the other Tundra owners. Any tips or tsb's are appreciated.

Welcome Tom and double congrats on your new vehicles. Enjoy your ride. Like you my wife wanted a Toyota Prius and we went in and came out with an 07 Crewmax Limited Nautical Blue and ordered her Prius in Slate. She got her Prius 3 days later.

fj40 pics

jpnca,
sorry, but I do not have any pics. I can tell you that it was dark (forest) green with a white top. It had gray vinyl interior and that it had fender flares on all corners color matched to vehicle and was lifted 3". I also added power steering and a Holley 500 2bbl carburetor to the stock 6cyl engine with a K&N air filter inside a chrome filter housing. It also had white 8 spoke 15" wheels and BFG 30" All Terrain tires. I can remember at 60mph she was wound up tight and not a hwy vehicle for long distance commutes.

The attack and departure angle was such that you could go across almost anything and I have had chevy blazers try to follow me and get stuck many times. It was a blast to take off road and use as a hunting 4x4.

I remember now that I bought a NEW flywheel, clutch, triple sprung high performance pressure plate and throwout bearing all from Downey Toyota in California.
I never got around to putting these parts on before I sold it. I think its all still up in the attic in a big box. I may have to get it out and put it on here for sale.

Thanks jpnca for helping jog my old memory about this good machine and the NEW leftover parts.
