It's ordered! I'm impatiently waiting...

The dealer said 30-90 days until it arrives. I was ok when I said: "Sure, I can wait for the truck." Well, it has been less than a week and I am really anxious for it's arrival. Heck, the wife and I just bought a Jayco 26BH travel trailer today to tow behind it. Talk about cart before the horsepower. They are holding the travel trailer until the truck arrives...

Specs for the truck:
2008 4X4 CrewMax Ltd. Short Bed 5.7L V8 6 Spd Auto
Pyrite Exterior/Tan Leather Interior
EM Option Package B
Vehicle Shield Package
Tow Mirrors: Manually Extendable, Power
Remote Start
Back-Up Camera W/Monitor
Window Tint
Molded Dash Applique
Bed Liner (Under Rail)
Bed Extender

Cross your fingers that it arrives faster than they estimated. Heck, I'll drive down to San Antonio to pick it up (45 minutes from me)!

Congrats on your truck! I'm looking at ordering one for myself, can't seem to find one with every detail that I want. Did your dealer give you any "We can't special order" lines or did they work with you on your choice? Enjoy the truck!

Great choice on the factory instlled reverse cam, alot of people seem to be stressing themselves withe the aftermarket cams that require a overhead console that is badly positioned, mine is monitored throught he nav system, so no neck bending here

No problem with special ordering. I explained to the salesman that I had already sent quotes to other dealers for the exact truck. I asked many of them for a "sausage, egg and cheese biscuit" and I got back many "sausage and egg biscuit with hashbrowns" type answers. So, I went in there and was very forward with my requests. He only asked if I had time to wait 90 days and I happily said: "Yep". They even came back with the best price. I had many prices with me to argue with them but they ended up with the best deal and exactly what I wanted. San Marcos Toyota (San Marcos, Tx). Salesman = David Morris. Great place.

Hey Tomtanium, I live in San Antonio, and I am shopping for a similar truck.
Would you mind sharing how the pricing worked out for you? MSRP? What sale price did you end up paying for it? Did you buy the extended warranty? How much IS that? What coverage do you get for it?
Thanks..

No problem. The truck after TTL was 42k and change. Since the truck is on order, the warranty stuff has not been discussed yet. But, I feel, that the price that I got was excellent and they really treated me well. We take our current cars there for service and they get an A+ for that too!

I'm still impatiently waiting...

Thanks to both of you..
Tomtanium, just to share this info with you to hopefully help you out..You inspired me to call a local dealer, in SA, and ask them how long it would take for a special order- if I end up having to do that when I am ready to buy, and they said 3 weeks max! Maybe re-ask your salesman how soon you can get it (now that the order has been placed, and he could not sell you a unit from inventory) and maybe you will find out that the truck is available for delivery sooner than you were originally told. Good luck!

I made a mistake. I came home and looked at my paperwork. Total cost was 43k and change, not 42k and change. MSRP was right at 46k. Sorry about that. To be clear, we ordered two cars (3/14/2008) on that day. We ordered my truck and my wife's Sienna. I think that they were also taking that into account. Don't forget, the 3k rebate ends THIS MONTH (or that is what all of the advertisements say).

Thanks! I don't think I'll bother them again. Here's the story:
I explained to the salesman that in 1998, I special ordered a Dodge P/U with all of the options that I wanted. I picked up the truck only to find that it didn't have a bumper (it had a "sport" bumper - plastic). I couldn't tow my utility trailer until I got a stinking bumper for it.

So, I was VERY clear in the options that I chose. I was worried the following day while I was out of town because I don't recall the paperwork indicating a 5.7L engine. I knew the standard engine was the 4.7L. I called the salesman (David) and asked if the 5.7L was ordered. He said that, in fact, the 5.7L WAS ordered. I was relieved. The following Tuesday, I reviewed the paperwork again. It did not indicate the engine size. Sheesh! I freaked out again. I decided to call the fellow that orders the cars (Jeremy - He was off until Thursday). I left messages twice (09:00 and 13:10) on Thursday. Since I did not hear back immediately, my wife called the salesman again. She explained that I was concerned because we are towing a travel trailer with this and don't want to wait for them to have to order it again. He said that they would not order a 4.7L unless it was a special order. They only order 5.7L engines. He promised that it was the 5.7L on order. Jeremy called me back at 16:09 and confirmed that the 5.7L was ordered. Whew. I was seriously freaking out. I am normally calm and collected. This was just a big issue for me since it was unclear and we have already bought the travel trailer.

So... I don't think that I will be calling to "hurry" it up. As long as the order is correct, I'll wait for my turn. It hurts but I'll wait. Deep in my heart, I think they will call really soon telling me that the truck is in. If not, I'll still be happy as a bird to get it - whenever.

UPDATE!!!!

I got a call from Jeremy (fellow ordering the truck) today! He said that the truck "showed up on his screen today" and will be in Houston on the 17th of May! It should be in San Marcos and ready to go a couple of days after that!

I can't wait. On May 14th is the "I have been waiting for 60 days now" mark.

There is still no word on the wife's Sienna that we ordered on the same day...

Still Impatiently waiting,
Tom
