Does anyone have any experiance with a 2012 Tundra with the smaller engine?

I currently have a 2003 Tundar, lots of power. I do not tow anything.

The 2012 is larger, is the 4.7 engine large enough?

I borrowed a small engine'd '10 Tundra last summer for for a a 10 hour round trip excursion, and had a 13 for a few days during my AIP replacement.

The little engine doesn't do too bad considering its size, but the 5.7 takes bad to a whole other level.

I guess if you have to ask, the little engine might be enough for ya. I didn't consider it for a second. :)

Your not really gaining anything going with the smaller engine except a tad better mpg. If MPG is your reasoning.. stick with 1st Gen you already have

Depends on what you mean by 'large enough'? You will feel somewhat sluggish compared to your 2003 from extra weight of 2nd gen. Is it adequate? Yes. But be aware that there are more people regretting their decision to get a 4.6 than people regretting their decision to get a 5.7 (good luck finding one who complains about 5.7).
