Front end noise? - TundraTalk.net

I have a 04 4.7l 4x4 extra cab w/ 36k, and often for no reason, normally after being park for only a few hours, it will lock the front differential. When this happens it makes it hard to turn and the wheels squeal. Reason I know its this is I have to cycle into and out of 4x4 to get to clear. Also when it finally comes out of lock it sound like a u-joint slamming.

I had my dealer look at it and they could not find any thing. Or get it to repeat. They check the codes and found no problem.

Any idea's, on how to find out what it could be?

Is it push button or direct (stick for the 4WD)

push button. And no there is no light on.

I've not driven this truck hard off road. Just light hunting trails.

If its switching by itself it maybe a short. See if you can pull the fuse to the 4WD. If it stops it start tracing it back
