Electrical fun with DRLs - Live wire on ignition?

Hello All!

Got a 2002 Tundra SR5 8cyl 4wd. Got it in the states and am trying to get the DRLs installed to pass Canadian insp.

I've found lots of good info on here so far for the daytime running light installation...but am looking for some advice on the last step.

I bought a Hamsar DRL kit. All installed, except one last little green wire. They're telling me to wrap the "trigger wire" around the spark plug wire but this is not working. Another option as per the instructions is to hard wire the green line into another wire that's live when the ignition is on (ie. Oil pressure sensor)

Any one know of any other options? Any advice?

I'm very new to this and need all the help I can get!
Thanks!

Amy

I have a 2001 Tundra AC but do not know great detail about the DRL systems because mine was not a limited so I did not have to worry about them. Someone on here should be able to help out though.

Finding the right hot wire for daytime running lights can be tricky! If I were you I would judt bite the bullet and ask an auto electric guy, he may give you some free info!

I would agree with Deznut that's not something that you want to mess with and it can be very tricky to find the right one! Just ask a pro and most will give you some advice on the side!
