Looking at used 1st gen. Tundras
I am currently driving a F-250 crew cab 4x4 diesel, but I am considering going to a 1st gen. Tundra. I will want crew cab & 4x4 for sure. Are there any certain things that I should be looking for on a 1st gen. Tundra. I do not mean the ovious such as wear & tear, but items that are specific to 1st gen Tundras. I am suprised that they do not get better mileage than what they do.
Thanks |

I would go with the 4.7 liter for sure cause I have the 3.4l and the gas mileage is not better at all and it is gutless so I have to slap on a supercharger to get that power!! But other than that everything else is basic wear and tear things

I went from an 04 Ford F-250 CC & Diesel, to an '06 Tundra, Double Cab, Limited, with the TRD Off Road Packaged. I couldn't BE happier. It is 2 years later, and I STILL smile when I drive my truck. I love the 4/7 liter engine.

Great choice on a vehicle, very reliable, and very functional! I had a 2000 SR5 4X4 and got 180,000 miles out of her with not one issue. Wish I would have never sold it, but I don't have the room. My little bro has an 06 with 4 full size doors, V8 4X with a 10" lift and so far he has had zero issues. Great truck brother! Like T.k said, I read somewhere the 4.7 V8 was so reliable it was approved for aviation use. In what kind of craft I don't know but thats what I read.

If you can try to get the 2005-06 model 4.7 V8, they have VVT-I. They have more horsepower and torque. And a 5spd Auto Tranny. Those models have a little more power.
