Smile Glad to have found this site.

Hi to all. I just stumbled onto this site and I'm learning alot. I have an '03 Red Salsa Pearl 4x4 stepside. I have had Toyotas since 1979 when I bought an '80Celica hatchback. As a matter of fact it was about the same color as my truck is now. When I find out how to put a picture with my profile I will. Including my Celica I've had four 4Runners a Tacoma and now this Tundra. This is my first full size truck and I absolutely [i]love[i] it.
I do have a small frustrating problem though, maybe someone can give me some advice. There are four groups of gauges on the dash, when I turn on my lights the first one on the left is out, but only sometimes. Has anyone else experienced any of this? Sometimes if I'm driving for more than 40 minutes it will all of a sudden come on and be fine--until the next time I get in the truck and turn on my lights. I don't know what to do. I had my local mechanic look at it but he didn't see anything that could be causing it. Should I take it to the dealer next? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a electrical short of some kind. Did your mechanic replace the bulbs and check for an electrical short?? I had an 01 Dodge that had a similar issue and it was short that was causing it.

Welcome to the site...

You need to look for (or have someone look for) a loose wire or short of some sort. These are very frustrating...

Thanks for your replies. I know when there is a problem "sometimes" it can be frustrating trying to find the cause but I'll keep on it.

Could be a loose ground, or sometimes the filament in the bulb will connect with vibration. I have also seen the solder end of the bulb flatten and make for a loose connection. Start with a bulb change, then look for the loose connection/short.
