congrats on the truck, looks nice, nice colour. But saying they can do alot more is putting a great responsibility on that little truck. Sure their smaller and can get into more places easier then the new gen tundra, but it cant tow as much cant go as fast, cant seat as many people comfortably. so really what do you mean by do alot more? I'm not saying anything bad about the truck I use to own a 06 AC tundra and loved it, but it was just too small.

As far as towing slap on a super charger. Lockers and 4wheel ability with ac cab rather than the 4 door. I am just saying that there are more options when it comes to 2000 to 2003.

so i agree with omega....a little. i do pefer the 1st gen tundra just because its the right size for me....not to big nor to small and the 4.7 is silky smooth. im just wondering where this thing with adding a supercharger or having more power means you can tow more. this is the silliest damn thing ive ever heard, and i know omega isnt alone in this....most people i talk to seem to feel this way. sure it may add to the passing ability but i think anyone who tows on a regular basis would agree that towing requires a strong suspension and a heavy truck, more power is a plus but not required. the 1st gen is to light and suspension is to soft to tow much more than 6000-6500lbs, putting a supercharger does nothing to change this.

As far as towing, a super charger some stiffer leafs, and trailer brakes. Throw on a arb front bumper and some bigger brakes. My point is that there are far more options for first gen tundras then later models. I can take my tundra almost as many places as my 1st gen 4runner. Almost.

Even if you put all that stuff on your truck it still wont touch a 2007 or newer tundra. I traded my 03 4x4 tundra for this truck i now have. No matter what you think you will have to own both before you can compare. These new trucks come stock better than those old trucks with all that other stuff on them.

i've owned both and reid is right, just througing a super charger on does nothing for towing. you put 10,000 lbs on that first gen and shes gonna be hurting no matter how much HP you have. The frames not as beefy, the rear ends alot smaller, the truck is alot lighter. and how can you turn if your front tires arent touching the ground

i think most will agree that while the 2gen can pull 10k, thats almost pushing it. the 1st gen would get pushed all over the road like a rag doll it you tried to pull 10k, regardless of what kind of bumper or brakes or engine mods you may have. i own a first gen and love the thing but im not so foolish to think i could put 10k on the back and not be putting someones life at risk...not to mention tearing up my truck. my double cab comes in at just under 5k dry...you access cab less than that, just dosent seem smart to me. and there are more options available just due to the fact its been 7+ years since introduced.........

Yes Newer trucks can pull more. Neat. I am talking about in general i would be able to go many more places with the aftermarket products available to first gen trucks. My truck is not going to be a trailor queen. If i wanted that i would have saved up for a duramax.

So basically you are saying it's better for off-roading.

Congrats! That's about .00001% of all truck owners. I'd hardly say that makes it better.

Id say its the perfect size for me. The new Tundra is too big, even the new Tacoma is too small. The rear seat sucks, but I dont sit back there!

tell me about it. Most people on this site are all about 20 inch chrome rims and altezza tail lights. LIke thats a mod How big of a stero can i get or how loud my exhaust can be. My truck will be multipurpose, camping, hauling, 4x4. And no i am not saying that just because of its 4x ability its better. I am saying that its the perfect size, not to big, not to small. Its perfect in my opinion, i think thats what the title said.

I totally agree. Mine is 4x2, so I could give a hoot about off road.

Having owned both a 2002 and 2007, I gotta say I like the 2002 better from a driveability perspective. However...

Would I trade my 2002 back for the 2007? No frickin' way!!
