The 1st gens were too much like a car in my opinion.

I use my truck as a truck. Not like a car or a jeep.

It would be better compared against a Chevy Colorado or a Dodge Dakota. It's just not even in the same class as the new Tundras.

congrats on your Tundra, Drive it, enjoy it, and take care of it. My first truck I did just that and kept it for 14 years. It was not a toyota, but you know the rest. Put a bug guard on the front, I was in 1996 germany going XXX fast when something hit the bug guard, it put a 1/2 hole in the guard but not any dammage on the truck.

Question Need some insight.

I have got a 03 Tundra Access Cab and it is 2 wheel drive with the 3.4 liter.
I have got 83K miles on it and I want to service it myself. Anyone got some suggestions about a good service book and a way to get a hold of it?
When I bought the truck used it came with one book that covered cleaning the interior, changing tires and certain lights but that is about as far as it goes.
The truck has worked out great so far.

exactly!!! See how limiting the new tundras are. I have the best of all three worlds. I can take my Gen 1 on the trails because its small enough. I can haul a boat with it because its big enough. I can drive the highway because it rides like a car. I guess its the swiss army knife of trucks, where as the new tundras are pretty much a one trick pony.

BRO, it will tow MY boat fine. You would be suprised where one can take a vehicle with driving skill. I know it wont wheel like my old fj, but it will get me where i want to go alot easier than the newer/bigger tundra.

Why do you keep arguing that your old ass Tundra is sooo good? You are full of shit if you are trying compare our apples against your damn raisan. We ALL have owned a 1rst gen. and a second gen. we know better than you!!! I had a 2003 4x4 V8 Tundra, and loved it very dearly. I know that you like a smaller truck that you can waste alot of money on, But please get off our backs about a BETTER truck!

What forum is this? Did you read the title? IMO = In My Opinion. Waste alot of money on? Wow, public schools and the whole math thing. Your right the interest your paying on your truck is a much better investment. Get off whose backs? Go back to your own forum. Your logic is so flawed Stevie wonder can see it.

Should have just got a Jeep. It's smaller, better off-road, has "more options", and can tow about the same.

This seems to be your measuring stick, so why not go with "the best".

You left out on highway drive abiltity and hauling gravel. So if i was using MY measuring stick the only thing that measures up is a first gen Tundra.

My great investment (interest) is 1.9%. If you can get a better interest on your old truck than i am proud of you! Who the heck is Stevie wonder? My new truck is going to cost me $6,000 more when paid for and its gonna be 4 years newer, sure its gonna cost more but i can easily afford it. BTW I attended private school for 12 years. And BTW, IMO your insults sound childish.

I am paying no interest. Stevie Wonder is a famous singer and piano player who is blind. 6000 is half of what i paid for my truck. Good job on the private school!!! Its not opinion that my insults are childish its fact. I am tired of bickering, its not even good bickering at that. I am proving my point to guys that drive 2WD trucks.

Must have a really "SMALL MEASURING STICK"....

tyring to compensate by purchasing a first gen Tundra was not the answer.....you can talk it up all you want but the new trucks perform so much better....at any task. It really is apples and oranges...
