'16 grill - too much chrome

I like a little chrome but the front end on my '16 is just too much. I had a partially used can of dip in the garage so I figured I'd give it a shot and see how it turns out.

I haven't seen this color scheme done before but I think it turned out pretty good and looks unique. I've never dipped anything on trucks before so no idea how long it's going to hold up. Put on about 6 or 7 coats.

Thanks. Got a better pic out in the sun.

The grill kinda reminds me of those Sterling-branded Dodge Rams from a few years ago.

I prefer the color matched bulge and surround from the platinum model with a limited, platinum or other non-chrome insert.

I dunno why Toyota painted the rear bumper.

I'd actually like to paint the front bumper ends to match the rear bumper but keep the grill surround chrome. Without the Pro headlights or aftermarket, the stock headlights kinda look like they're hanging out on the corners/detached from the truck. The chrome grill surround ties them together in my opinion. The aftermarket headlights or blacked our Pro style look great with the color matched surrounds.

I was leaning towards getting the Pro grill and putting it in my chrome surround, but then I saw this:

If that will snap in to the Chrome surround, I'm all over that.

I like that. Wonder how that would look with my red '16 Limited (with a bit to much chrome!)

This looks great! May have to steal this idea and do mine. Did you remove the grill first or just mask it off?

I removed the entire grill and masked it off. If I wasn't concerned with breaking the clips, I would have removed the insert as that would have made the masking job much easier. I haven't washed the truck since I dipped it so no idea on how it's going to hold up to that but I really like the look. Makes my truck look unique among all the other MGM Tundras in town. Unless I get that raptor-style grill, when the dip starts wearing off I'll probably make the black bars permanent with a good automotive paint.

It does snap over the oem sorround. Use a hairdryer to heat up the tabs before removing them to prevent breakage.
