Toyoguard? What does that mean?

So, my 08 DC came with the Toyoguard package. A small bottle of cleaner is included that is supposed to be used once every few months. I think the cleaner is supposed to keep the clear coat clean? At any rate, surely using this stuff alone does not provide any protection to the paint. I am not sure if I am only supposed to use the Toyoguard cleaner, or if I should wax the truck as well. Does anyone else have any experience with this Toyoguard stuff? Maybe I should just throw the bottle away and stick to a good wax?

Funny, I just asked the dealer today what the hell is was. I used it this afternoon. Works well. Smooths out the clearcoat. I usually use Zymol. That stuff is the bomb.

TOYOGUARD= Once the vehicle goes from the factory to the local distributor, in my case, Gulf States Totota or GST, they apply the sealant / cleaner to the paint ( $8-$10) a bottle and they may apply a "scotchguard" like product to the fabric. Then they stick it to you for $500-$700 on the sticker. I have waited until final paperwork in the past and was like "no, I don't wan't that, I didn't ask for it or know it was on there" Believe me, they won't lose a sale if you threaten to walk out. Don't let them tell you that if you apply it every six months, that you will have any better of a paint warranty either. Other than that, it's great stuff for removing minor scratches and adds a nice shine. Not bashing, because my 2005 RAV-4 has Toyoguard, but I didn't pay. The bottom line is that most of us, (meaning the members of T.T.), care so much about our investments that we are always searching for the best advice about maintaining our trucks. I want to join I.B.T.O. !!!!!!

Usually with the Toyoguard they etch the windows with the VIN number. I know that is easy to do because I used to work at a dealership but it is nice to have on a new vehicle.

Yeah, I didn't pay for the Toyoguard package, but it did come with the truck. I just didn't know if I should use the cleaner that came with it, or use some good wax instead.

Toyoguard includes all of the following:

--Roadside assistance
--Rental car
--Rental car assistance
--First free oil change
--Emergency towing
--Vehicle VIN etching
--Exterior paint sealant
--Undercoating and sound seal sealant cleaner
--Interior protectant on seats and carpet

I've never used the cleaner. It just sits in the garage collecting dust.
