Teflon coating worth $$$?

I was debating whether or not to teflon coat my black 08 CM SR5 4x4 TRD I just got a couple days ago.

Anyone have any advice before I drop $550 to have this done to the interior and exterior? It comes with a 5 yr warranty.

Thanks...

Just my opinion, but these finishing products are a waste of money. If you want to keep your vehicle looking good, use the money to have it professionally detailed when the finish gets a little dull. You'll save some money; and you may not even have this truck in 5 years.

I cant either. We use teflon coated bolts in some services in our plant and those bolts never corrode.

only1sifu would you clarify what this coating is please. Is it like an undercoating or a protectant for the paint, or interior?

Sorry about being so vague.

Apparently it is some sort of sealant for the interior against stain(I'm thinking scotch guard...) and some sort of protectant for the paint. They said it comes with a 5 yr warranty. Originally they wanted to charge me $799 but they lowered it to $599 or $550...

I hope that clarifies things.

Don't do it. You can scotch guard the interior and wax the outside yourself and save a lot of money

Talk to a detail shop about this, they'll tell you all about the scam and how much cheaper it would be to have them do it or do it yourself. It's basically spraying the interior with scotchguard and applying a paint sealer to the exterior. I bet the "warranty" is full of loopholes the size of the moon as well... Just like if you upgrade the truck with wheels and a lift, you'll get it dealer installed but I've seen a $3500 lift/tire/wheel combo cost $10000+ as an option on the sticker!

Thanks every1 for the input. Save me a lot of $. I'll just do it my self. I guess if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

Now, where is a good place to buy the scotch guard and paint sealant? Any particular brand I should use?

Thanks again.
