ya the PCs are very easy to use. if you use the correct pad/polish a 5 year old can do it w/o damaging the paint. the tough part is just educating yourself on the products. good luck

That sounds like a great idea! I believe I'm gonna do that this weekend! I was checking out the Zaino product's and they're pretty pricey but I guess that's the way it goes for an "Auto Show Finish" right! I'm gonna order the Zaino online but what would you suggest as a store shelf alternative for now?

One more question. Can you just give me a list of what Zainos products I would need for what I want to do. My truck is black and has swirl marks in it that some douchbag mobile detailer left when my girl had my truck washed without me knowing. Also, what would be needed for post swirl mark removal to make sure it doesn't happen again. Just a list of products would be sweet. I can then buy them and follow directions off the bottles. Thanks!

Turtle wax ice - A review

I realized a couple days ago the wife's silver 07 dodge nitro had NEVER been waxed, she was supposed to have done it a bunch of times, she never did.

Beings as that I've seen alot of talk about the ice products on here an other places I gave them a shot. 67 dollars and change later I had the entire product line from auto zone.

step 1) the wash. It's not bad, smells good, foams good and seems to rinse really clean. I'll actually keep using this stuff I liked it so much.

step 2) Liquid clay bar. Throw this crap in the street and run over it with your truck. It'll do the same job, also makes a good door stop.

step 3) polish. was average, not good not great. for the ease of application I was actually pretty happy with it.

step 4) wax. goes on easy and makes a pretty good shine. I can't tell you how long it lasts, but if it lasts a while I'll consider using it every once in a while on my truck.

Overall, soap- good, claybar-joke, polish-notbad, wax-decent.
Again this was on a never waxed before, and hardly washed 07 Silver dodge nitro. If the thing was black I'm pretty sure I would have wash off the "liquid claybar" and pick up the meguiars or zanio line. The system gets a 6/10 for me.

There's a good chance your rig didn't need the clay treatment just yet. Clay is typically used when your vehicle has a sustantial build up of contaminents like tar, brake dust, tree sap, polution, and everyday dust and dirt. You should know if you need the clay by the way your paint looks and feels!

Around here (Dallas, TX) I need to use a clay bar every 4-6 months or so. Lots of contaminants around the freeways, especially with all the contruction.

Summer is the worst when the high pressure systems just sit on top of us. No wind and the pollution just lingers for days. We end up with tons of crap stuck in the paint as a result. Thank God we're moving soon...

The truck was bought almost a year ago and had never been waxed, barely been washed. It NEEDED clay baring.

I forgot to throw in there that I went ahead and use a real claybar on it.

Just order the "basic kit". I think it's about $100...but it'll last a non-freak years. I'd add the Z-PC swirl remover too, but that's really all you need.

I use a clay bar a lot. Especially in the Spring when there's bugs and tree sap everywhere.

i would clay my car every 4-6 months depending on the driving and atmosphere.

As for store bought like from auto zone. use the mothers or meguairs clay bar and meguires tech wax. Polishers and paint cleaner by mothers isnt bad. They will prob be your best bet for the weekend coming up as they can be easily found in local stores. But once you get the Ziano stuff you will really see the diffrence between quality.

Spent about 4-5 hours detailing my truck yesterday. Wash, clay bar, Zainos ZPC (takes stuff off that even the clay bar missed), Zainos Z2 polish, Z6 finishing spray, CS(? clear sealant. Not convinced it's necessary). Finished just in time for my daughter to hop in and take off. . Haven't suceeded in posting a pic here yet, but I'll try again...despite the fact that pictures don't do it justice. (I took a before and after shot, and you really can't tell the diff in the pics)

White is very hard to see the difference in a picture. Try standing next to the truck and catch the reelections.

Not a cloud in the sky, forcast said no rain for a week. So I spend 4 hours washing, claybaring, polishing, waxing the truck to have POUR DOWN RAIN for a good 2 hours about 3 hours after I finished.

Yuck. Well...it needed to be done though. Here's my car...the color shows the detail job better than white:

Well I finaly tried the Ice car wash, and paste wax. The car wash was ok, the wax worked killer, very nice shine, and actually took off the white marks on my plastic from the mequaire's wax(sucked for me). Glad I read this post Turtle wax Ice Kicks A$$
