Fishing string and goo gone. I did this on my truck and it came out really nice. I recommend focusing on removing the plastic and not trying to remove the sticky rubber material behind the plastic. I focused on removing the rubber and accidentally scratched the paint a little bit. It means that you will have to spend a lot of time with the goo gone to remove the left over sticker material but it will look a lot nice in the end.

Do you think maybe waxed floss would be safer than fishing string? Also, did you use a hairdryer to soften up the glue? Just curious, I dont want to scratch my truck. Thanks.

You can try waxed floss but I doubt that it will be strong enough. I was using 25 LB. test fishing line and I was able to break a couple of pieces. I did not use a hairdryer when doing the removal. I've used that technique before and I didn't like it. I found that the heat just made the rubber gum up and difficult to cut.

I should say that I am VERY picky about my truck. When I say there are scratches I should say there is an 1/8 of an inch impression from the fishing line. It didn't really "scratch" the paint it just kind of left an impression in the paint.

The best way to remove badges is to first use a hairdryer on the badge and once the glue has been softened, use 12lb fishing line to cut behind the glue (you may have to keep reheating the badge while removing.) Once the badge is removed, use the hairdryer to reheat the glue and you can usually roll it off with your fingers. Next, use acetone or some kind of solvent and remove the stubborn glue and you are all done!

As soon as I get all of my washing / waxing supplies in the mail, I'm going to debadge my 08. I'm pretty sure they're all just held on with glue.

They just use a standard double side tape/glue material.

Just like any other truck.

I am VERY glad that Toyota didn't add any stupid door strips to the Tundra. It cost me about a grand to have the holes filled and the truck painted on my Titan.

Finished debadging about 2 hours ago. Took about 45 mins. to do whole truck. I went to Big 5 sporting goods and got 30lb fishing line. Worked like a charm. Concentrated on just removing the badge and leaving the tape to work on later(so as to not damage finish), but the tape came off on all but one badge. Took about 5 extra minutes to remove the tape(just pushed off with my fingertips) I was amazed at how easy everything came off!! I just bought the truck a couple of months ago, so maybe the adhesive hadn't had time to "stick" really good.
A couple of passes with the clay bar afterwards, and you could never tell anything was ever there.....

No heat needed?? WHat part of the country are you in? I was going to borrow a heat gun from work to loosen up the glue.

I just finished mine on sunday, I used 20 lb test line and took me about 3hrs. My line kept breaking. Once I got the emblems off I just used my fingers to roll off the glue. I did leave the SR5 on the cab due to a request from my 7yr old. The 5.7I emblems were the hardest. I also installed the fire and ice light bar on the back. I know the people can see me now as when I press the brake I can see the brake lights in the other drivers faces. The pictures of the light bar are before the debadging.

I'm planning on removing all but the 5.7L badge. Does your brake light include reverse lights? Did you have to do any hard wiring or was it just plug and play?

Just removed all badges at work..(Maybe took an hour)The badges that were in the sun were easy to cut through, but the glue was a little harder to get off(More Gummy)Used Goo Gone. The tail gate tundra & toyota were harder to get off because it was not in the sun. Broke the 20lb fishing line a lot but the glue kinda just peeled off. I'd say heat it up a little will help you cut through easier..But most of the glue just rubs off with your finger..After it's all done it looks totally clean..Thanks for those with there advise i hope this will help anyone else.If you are wondering i am in LA so it was about 60 out when i removed them.

Cool. I guess I'll take a heat gun to it just to remove the badges, then let the glue cool down to rub it off easily. I'll probably wait till this weekend to do mine.
