I live in Miami and I went to Gainesville on Sunday. Just came back today and yes you are correct, I felt bugs hitting my windshield all the way on the Turnpike. The front of my truck was pretty much covered with them, and let me tell you huge bugs 
It has been a pain in the ass to remove them, I washed the truck twice already and still.... I guess I am going to buy one of those bug removers to use it over the weekend.
I am about to move to Gainesville (transfering to UF on the Fall) and I will be driving at least once a month to Miami, I am getting a bug shield this week.
