While I don't know the specifics of the dealership where he bought his truck, he bought it in Canada, not in the US. That may have had an effect on it. Either way, some manufacturers do not honour warranties.

Furthermore, not all vehicles are allowed to be brought back into Canada.
In addition, compare toyota.com and toyota.ca for pricing...same truck, but at .com it's $34,300, where at .ca it's $40,475...
