You are dreaming if you think a programmer and intake (an intake isn't as noticeable on a mass-density air intake like the Ram has) cuts 1 second off a 0-60 time. That comment right there, proves to me you have no clue what you are talking about.

To get into the 13's, a regular cab needs more than a Superchips programmer and intake. It needs long tube headers AT LEAST.

If you want to know what you are talking about, visit Dodgetalk.com and look up a user called Hemi450HP. He's got about 20,000 posts and is an avid drag racer. You'll see what he ran with bolt-ons - high 13's. And for the record, a "bolt-on" is more than just a crappy intake and programmer. It involves headers, cams, springs, rods, traction bars, drag radials, weight reduction, gearing, transmission work, etc.

And, you can see what he runs now with a Sharadon built tranny, bored motor, high stall converter, etc.

Am I trashing Hemi trucks? No. I owned one for 3 years and loved every minute of it. Is it a great motor? Yes. Can it be modded to be very fast? Yes. Do I think it can compete (and beat) a 5.7L Tundra, yes - but not in stock form.

Let's be honest here. Talking trash about which truck is "faster" when modded is speculation at best. There are turbo'd 5.3L Silverados running mid 11's. A turbo Hemi can't touch that (if you don't believe me, check out streetfire.net and search). Can a modded Titan run 13's? Sure, when modded (with a 100 shot of nitrous I might add).

The only way to TRULY argue which one is quicker, is to look at them in completely stock form. Down to the paper filter. That is an equal comparison, and speaks about the engineering and design of a vehicle.

Comparing "modded" trucks has absolutely NOTHING to do with which truck is better. It HAS to do with with truck has more aftermarket products. If you really are a Hemi guy, then you should know there are no custom tunes available (besides an SMT-6 which 99% of people shouldn't operate). And, even with that, they have to play around considerably with the settings to make the truck run right with a turbo or supercharger.

From what I know of Hemi trucks (and mind you I was on Dodgetalk for about 3 years), you can buy the following for a 2003-2005 Hemi (non-MDS):

1) Heads
2) Cams
3) Pistons
4) Hardened pushrods
5) Stronger springs
6) Longtube, mid-length and shorty headers
7) Electric fans (most Hemi guys just swap a Viper fan)
8) Shortbelts (for drag racing, bypass power steering)
9) Intakes
10) Cutouts
11) Catback exhaust systems
12) Gears (up to 4.56, and I think one company makes 4.88's)
13) High stall torque converters
14) Traction aides (bars)
15) Programmers - Superchips, Hypertech, Bullydog and Diablo (Jet chips suck)
16) Nitrous kits
17) Widebands
18) Superchargers
19) Turbo kits

I'm sure I'm missing something out, but that's what I remember off the top of my head.

Guess what we can buy for our 5.7's?

1) Intakes
2) Exhaust systems
3) Shorty headers
4) TRD Supercharger (from what I've read out this summer)

So as you can see, comparing the two when modified really isn't a comparison. Dodge has more stuff available. And guess what? GM has more aftermarket parts than Dodge - which means Silverados can consistently be modded and be FASTER than Hemi trucks (or any other gas motor).

So, to truly compare the two, go stock vs stock. Anything else isn't a comparison in who makes a better truck, but who has more aftermarket parts.
