That's Bull Cr@p, take it to court. All you need to do is prove you had up to date tags and plates through your DMV records and that you were ripped off being towed and paying $500. The court should order your money returned if the tow company can't come up with who phoned in the complaint.
Who's to say this isn't some scam by the tow company and impound yard? That's an easy way to make $500 bro. Don't let these Bozos screw you.
