Jonathan I went through that with GM. Hell they didn't even show up for arbitration just a letter explainging how great their warranty system is.When I went in the first attempt to fix the headliner the parts dept ordered it and I received a card telling me to set an appointment within 10 days or part will be sent back. SO I did. Like you I got a rental which was a dodge neon. Way too small for me. The truck was fixed the next day so I was on my way. Two weeks later the headliner came down again. Now the way they handled it from here told me the real story. They had to order it again but I didn't receive a card when it supposively came in. Well this time I demanded a truck or a comparable full size car. Well I got the car because of no truck available. Since the headliner came down 2 days later this tells me they just pushed up the headliner and never replaced it. Went back in demanded to have it fix and I won't take nothing but a truck as a rental. Well I got a ford truck this time and they so called replace the headliner. After the first time the headliner came down I searched other GM dealers in the area. Out of the 3 dealers I checked 2 out of 5 at Jerry Hamm, 3 out of 5 at Crest, 2 out of 4 at George Moore, and where I bought it at Coggin it was 2 out of 4 also had their headliners down brand new. After checking the last dealer George Moore I couldn't take no more B/S and asked the sales Manager about this. Since all salesman knew nothing of what I was talking about and it showed. The sales manager did. His quote"When the customer finds the issue we will fix it then". What kind of B/S was that? That's defrauding the public. You know you have a defect and you won't say anything till a customer finds it? I was livid with that. I contacted an area rep and after the third time replacing he contacted me back stating it was a defect and it was cut to short. You may have to go through 10 till you get the right one to fit. 10!!! That's ridiculous. After meeting with a area rep when the 5 time it fell and this fellow was your typical rep that won't budge. He looks at the headliner, rubs it, all while I'm telling him the issues I was having with it, he pushes it up and states someone pulled down this headliner. I ignored him and stated another reason I think why it keeps falling down and he states again "Nothing wrong with this headliner someone pulled it down". SO now I state to him it drops at the driver's door first and whatever door I use the most next. He states again "Nothing wrong with this headliner someone pulled it down. Then we argue because now he has accused me 3x for pulling it down then states that the dealer was fixing it just to please me. So to please me he opened the door 4x and close it and on the 5th time it fell. I saw red and I was grabbed before I could hit the little weasel. I made sure everyone heard me loud and clear. Well this went on for 8x went through arbitration and lost after the 5x. They were suppose to replace my truck when I get an email from General Manager that they will never replace a truck that isn't safety related and you don't qualify. So like you the rattles won't get you a new truck. After both tail lights fell off and then the ABS brakes had to be fixed twice and the vibration was still there, After all my Bark about it I gave up and traded it in and lost $7,000 on this Tundra I have now. What helped was I bought a Prius also at the same time with the rebate and they matched the same off on the truck plus I put down a couple of grand I never looked back. Jonathan what really gets me the service was great in the begining and after the 3rd time and they hear LEMON the service was gone with the wind. No help what so ever. Trying to get that truck as a rental was impossible. The icing on the cake they called me and asked if I owned another GM vehicle. Needless to say I was no gentleman to the lady that asked. I had that truck at 3 different dealers to fix it. I was charged to fix my brakes twice even under warranty. To top it I went through GM school back in 76-77. So to have piece of mind Jonathan I paid the price and traded it in. I had my TUndra in twice to fix the pass mirror which wouldn't auto close at 15,000 and now at 26,000 I had my center console cover would stay close all the time replaced in 15 minutes. The mirror in 45 minutes. What I'm telling you is all manufacturers have their issues now and then. It's how they take care of you is why you would stay. You also have to try other dealers just to see who would listen and help you. Personally I wouldn't have had an outside source fool with the dash. This could've cause you to lose your warranty.
