mounting

The following may not be kosher, but here it is:

I was really reluctant to drill holes in the lower dash panel on my brand-new truck. Also. I'm kind of long legged and didn't want to bang my knees on the controller. And, I figured 90% of the miles on this truck will be without a trailer.

I spliced in longer wires to my controller and ran the wires up alongside the left of the dash, stuffed in behind/beside the door weatherseal. Ran the wires up along the side of the A pillar and mounted the controller on the sunvisor, using a velcro strap.

The controller is level-sensitive and I was a little sceptical that the weight of it would pull the visor down and upset the adjustment. Not so. It is very stable and does not fall out of place. However, if needed, I can easily reach up and manually operate the controller.

When I'm done towing, I unstrap the controller, pull the wire bundle and unclip the harness.

Some may think it's Rube Goldberg but it works.
