It doesn't give you anymore traction, just lower gearing which keeps the power to the ground. This truck has plenty of power so it's not needed very often. Example: You might use it if you were pulling a trailer thru heavy sand, mud, etc, etc. The truck and trans wouldn't have to work so hard to pull thru it in low 4.
