The ride should be the same. The tow package comes with the 7 pin AND a 4 pin wire connector so you are covered there. I have trailers with both and it is nice not having to us any adaptors with this truck. The tow package is worth getting even if you don't use it to it's full potential. id actually say quite the opposite. If you have a tow package, people will assume you used it (which you probably have) which means your tranny and alot of other components have been worked alot harder on your truck, then one without a tow package.
