Decided it was time to start saving a few bucks and start changing the oil in the wife's Tundra myself. I have changed the oil in my CTD several times and am comfortable with the mechanics of how to change oil, but I have some Tundra specific questions.

Her truck is an '03 4.7L V8

We will be in the Arizona desert most of the summer, so I bought Castrol GTX 10W-40. Thought I would run that in the summer, and switch to 10W-30 for the winter. What do you think of that?

For the filter, the guide book at Wally World said Fram TG3614. Is this the right filter? Sure seems small compared to the filter in my CTD. Want to be sure I have the right filter before I drain the oil.

Third and final question (for now)..How much oil do you put back in? 6.5 qts? Seems I read that somewhere in her owner's manual, but I can't find it again.

Thanks for your help......
Steve
Welcome to the forum Steve, first generation Tundra owners are popping up everywhere on this site and its becoming a popular hang out for them. I used to have a 2000 SR5 Tundra and yes the capacity is 6.5 qts. As for the filter a KnN would be the HP 1002 and as I recall it's relatively small. Call a dealer about the oil bro. Good luck!
