I've been happy with my Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors (siped)...very quiet, solid sidewall, winter traction is slighty less than siped BFG AT. Next winter I'll have dedicated winter wheels/tires. Unless something better comes along, Il'll replace the SA's with more of the same. Iv'e used the Toyo AT's and would recommend them as well (load range D or E) for 3-season use. Considering your desire for gnarly-looking...why not stick with BFG AT or MT? If winter traction isn't an issue, anything with a premium carcass will be OK.
