You need to use the recommended weight from the manufacturer. Which is 5w20 or 0w20 in the 5.7l Tundra. These newer engines have closer tolerances so the thinner oil is needed to flow through and cool the engine properly. Whether or not you use synthetic or conventional is all personal preference. All "Name Brand" oils have to meet certain standards (SJ, SG, API, Etc.....). Synthetics do last longer than conventional oils, which is that it takes longer for the different components of the oil to separate and break down, due to heat. This does not mean that you can go significantly longer between oil changes, Like Royal Purple or Mobil1 100K say you can. They are missing one fact, ALL oil gets dirty! And Dirty oil does not flow at an optimum rate. Always change your oil filter!
