From what I understand, In California your gun has to be locked with either a cable lock or locked in a case. The ammo must be seperate from the gun as well. And technically you can only "transport" the gun. Meaning you are only allowed to take it to the range, or another destination. You aren't allowed to keep the gun in your vehicle. That is unless you have a carry permit, which if you ask anyone who has tried to get one, Good luck. They are almost impossible to get.
Gun Laws are awful in California! Which makes it very difficult to protect yourself form the criminals that keep them in there waistband. I would feel ALOT safer if I could carry a loaded gun in my center console.
