Looking more at it, I think this will happen with all Turndras.
It's just the way it is constructed and just a question of how many miles you drive. Of cause, as more sand and little rocks are on the road, as faster it wears off.
In order to prevent this, plastic should cover this area as it does a little above.
That should have shown up in their preproduction testing!
Toyota like many other car manufacturer, test their product on the back of their customers!
