The paint is removed at the spot in the picture, same on pass. side too. What you see is primer. Once the primer wears away, bare metal will be a problem. Nothing from the door is physically touching it. Its simply exposed to road debris and looks likes its been sandblasted.
I may just put a dab of black silicone over it and be done with it.
