To find out exactlly what you can tow you need to take your truck to a cert. weigh station and have it weighed perferably with a fuel tank and the people you will have in it. This will give you a accurate weight of your truck. Then look at your GCVW. This is the maxium weight your truck can tow (trailer, truck, cargo and occupents). The GCVW is found on the door jam label. Subtract the truck weight from the GCVW and thats your trailer and anything that was NOT in the truck at the time of weighing can haul. If your gonna cut it close load up your trailer and everything in your truck and weigh them both at the same time. This is the most accurate way to find out. Dont be suprised if you can only tow less then what you thought. They set the max towing capacity on the basic truck they dont tell you this. Then say you want a Crewmax with 4X4, sunroof and all the options. Guess what the limit you can tow just decreased because all those option just made your truck heavier. So you may only be able to tow 8,500 depends on your truck.

Also if you lift your truck your reducing its towing capacity

Try it and let me know.
