oil

When I purchased the truck I took the salesman’s word the 5.7 used 5w-30.

I too, had the experience that the service department wanted to use this also. the manual states 5w-20 or 0w-20 and I made the choice to use easily available 5w-20 (non synthetic) that I use in a couple other vehicles.

From past experience, if you use a 5w-30 in an engine that wants 0w or 5w-20 you can easily lose mpg, rpm and have a totally different driving experience than what you should have.

I wonder if some other owners aren’t getting mileage below the predicted mileage for this reason? Especially with the apparent confusion about what oil goes in it at the dealerships. I took my own oil to the dealer.

This could be the reason for others hearing engine noises especially when cold.
