I really haven't noticed a flex in the tailgate on my Tundra, but I really haven't been paying much attention to it either.

The tailgate on my Nissan is pretty heavy, I think it probably weighs more than the tailgate on my Tundra. Your the 3rd person that's mentioned the old nissans are pretty good trucks, so I guess for $1400 I didn't do too bad, I mean the paint is pretty beat up but its going to be my go to the hills truck anyhow so it would end up looking bad anyhow. It already has offroad tires on it with lots of tread so at least I don't have to worry about tires for a while either.
