I am in the same boat, I have an '07 5.7 DC Limited and I have been driving 80% -90% city driving during the last few tanks and I was averaging 10 mpg (I calculated the old fashion way as well as verifying on the computer). And I am not driving with a lead foot. I am purposely driving conservatively to check the gas mileage. I understand city driving will get less MPG, but when it says 15 average city, I shouldn't get 2/3 of what they say.
I did take a road trip on the highway last week. I started averaging 19.3 mpg on my onboard computer and as I kept driving the average mpg went down and down as I kept driving. After 200 miles I was averaging about 16-17 and that was only highway driving. Trust me, I know the mpg on this truck wont match to a compact car, but when it say I should get 15-19, I get frustrated when it is SOOOO much lower.
I have about 2100 miles on my truck. Does MPG get better as more miles are put on?
