I would like to know just how serious my mistake really was. Do I need to remove, disassemble, and clean the CV joint or can it be purged in some way? Maybe others have found mixing grease is not all that serious?

I wish I could answer that but I don't know. I'm sure someone will answer it. I let the dealership do mine. This gives to an extra coverage and it's required for lifetime warranty.
