I'm assuming that if you replaced the factory box with a CAI it wouldn't have the carbon filter. Thinking about getting one, just have to decide on which one. Leaning towards the Volant or the AFE. Like the idea of not having to oil the filter.

Easy fix in that case...keep an extra filter with the carbon around just in case you need to go to the dealership.
