my paint scratches easily also. Got a spray-in bedliner. Can't recommend that enough. I haven't had any problems with the tailgate. I was worried at first, reading some of the other posts on the forum. I've hauled 5 or 6 cords of wood now, my quad a couple of times, tile, rock, garbage, bricks, etc. I've stacked a couple hundred pounds of bricks (and wood) on the tail gate and then stood on it. So I figure about 500 lbs on the tail gate. NO PROBLEMS. I have a late production 07 tundra.
