Always remember that with anything else, you get what you pay for sometimes. Just because your rates are cheaper and believe me rates vary by state, doesn't mean that your insurance is better either.
I had Allstate in NJ up until 2004. I was paying $1200 every 6 months for 2 cars, 1999 Ford Explorer and a 2001 Ford Escape. My wife was an inexperienced driver.
In 2004 I moved to NC. On the same cars, I was paying $588 every 6 months for the same coverage, same cars.
I made some phone calls and ended up going with the same insurance company that my house is insured through.
I now pay for the Tundra and a 2001 Escape $522 every 6 months and that is with lower deductables (250 for collision, 50 for comprehensive, fire, theft) and uninsured motorist. I also have a 3 point accident (my own with my Mazda6) which is included in that. Once that comes off, my insurance for hopefully just the Tundra is around $288 every 6 months.
Either way, I'm happy the Tundra has great safety ratings. It really does feel like a safe truck when I drive it.
