07 Tundra Slap/Clunking in Drivetrain
I have a 2007 Tundra Regular Cab 4x4 with the 4.7 liter engine. From the day i drove it home it had a serious clunk in the drivetrain when accelerating from a stop and when slowly coming to a stop. I took it to three dirrerent dealers before the problem was finally determined. At first i was told that the clunking was normal but I refused to believe that. My friend has an 05 with the 4.7 and has no problem. It turned out to be excessive tolerances in the splines on the driveshaft. The driveshaft was replaced and it is perfect now. Do not give up if you are having this problem. It is correctable and it is not a "normal operating characteristic" like I was told the first two times. Make them check the driveshaft if this is happening to you. It is not in the suspension.
