This may or may not apply, but there is a known "bug" regarding shifting. If you have VSC turned off, the transmission will sometimes get stuck in 4th or 5th and not shift any higher when in Auto mode. Using S mode solves it.
I haven't experienced this since I don't drive with VSC off, but I've seen in mentioned in many posts on different forums.
