If you're comfortable doing the fab work yourself...I say go for it. Like you said, a custom fit isn't going to be possible with a prefab box...change the specs a little bit and make that thing custom. I think you'll be more pleased with the result...although, it may take a little extra work. You should have no problem doing this for under $150.

I've had two dodge crew cabs and did all the work myself. Both turned out pretty well...I'll try to dig up some pictures for you. I would be doing this on my new Tundra, but it came with the JBL audio...and sub behind the rear seat...so I'll wait till I blow those out and start over.

What kind of system are you looking to install?
