Same deal for me. 2007 DC after 1 week. Lucky I had read it occured on another string here. Fortuately the bed wasnt loaded yet. I removed back of tailgate and the rod on the driver's side had popped out just like others had reported. Clipped it back on and it was fine. Took 5 minutes with the right torx socket and my cordless drill. If it happens again, I will likely wire tie it like one of the other people posted. I have also reported it to my dealer who said I should let Toyota Service know. Perhaps they can do a permanent fix through a service bullletin.

Still LOVE MY TRUCK!!!
